Fancy a flutter on Big Brother?

As always, Big Brother offers plenty of betting opportunities for those wishing to have a little investment to spice things up. The bookies are divided on the early favourite and you can get around 5-1 on Mark or Jay being the outright winner with Faye next best at 8-1. If you are putting your fiver on your own particular fancy then make sure you check out the different bookmakers as the prices vary wildly at this early stage. For example, if you fancy Louise to stay the distance, she is 12-1 with Ladbrokes but only 13-2 (nearly half those odds!) with Victor Chandler. There are some big prices about the others, including 33-1 for Maisy or Aden with Tashie rated the complete outsider at 40-1.

It is always exciting to place bets on big brother as you need to work out when is a good time during each series to place ones bet. It is often the case that the bookies favourite gets evicted due to the way the gameshow works so be very wary of placing a bet too early but if you leave it too late then you might get poor odds! I would say that the bookies have it pretty spot on as things stand so far this year, obviously we are in very early days at the moment however i can see Mark being a good favourite as the simpletons in the big brother house are often favouritised (Brian Belo, sorry, but it has to be said!). Lets face it, the simpler housemates are often the most entertaining. I mean, Mark was the first housemate to enter the big brother house and the first thing he said to the second and third housemates to enter the house was, "Come and have a look at this, there is a bath shaped like an egg........" I feel i need say no more
Just watch them run across the beach on Baywatch........! ;)

My money would be on Mark to win the show at this stage too, the bookies are normally pretty spot on with this sort of thing. It is so easy to tell these days by jugding the level of noise and whether it be a cheer or a boo by the crowd on each eviction show. However it could only take 1 wild move or thing to be done by a housemate in order for them to go from being loved to being hated. As it stands though i think Mark is our winner for 2011 big brother :)

You both make good points. The producers try to build up an image of each contestant before they enter the house and the biggest influence on this is their promo video. I am sure the contestants are told what to say for these videos, generally along the lines of "I'm the best looking bloke ever, God's gift to women and I'm gonna win Big Brother". That gets a reaction from the crowd so they form conclusions e.g. "He's a big-head" or "She's a tramp" and then boo and heckle them. I'm sure that many of the housemates must cringe when they see the re-run of their video!

It is probably wise policy to sit on the fence as far as the early betting goes. It is not just what the housemates get up to that changes things dramatically. In some of the earlier Big Brother series they tried to boost flagging ratings by introducing new housemates! That's a bit like betting on a horse race only to find that extra runners join in half way through the race! I do think the money talks when it comes to the eviction nights though. The bookies are nearly always right! Let's see what they come up with for the first eviction....watch this space!

With nominations due in today for the first eviction, here is a quick check on the betting so far on Big Brother 2011! The bookies are unanimous in keeping Mark and Jay at the head of the market at around 4-1. Surprisingly, the almost invisible Faye has been cut in price from 8-1 last Friday to around 5-1 whilst Louise has eased out to 14-1. Maisy, who seems very popular in the house, is seemingly friendless outside the house and can be backed at 33-1. That seems a very big price considering she is exempt from eviction this week? Other rank outsiders are Harry, Anton, Heaven and Tashie who are given no chance by the bookies at prices ranging from 33-1 to 66-1!

There are also markets on Top Man, Top Woman, Gender of the winner and Eviction night specials (I will update you when the first prices are announced)

The betting on the first eviction night of Big Brother 2011 suggests that Tashie is a certainty to leave on Friday. The bookies first quoted her at 8-15 but have shortened her to 1-3 favourite! Next best is Harry at 9-4 whereas there seems to be nothing to worry about for Aaron who you can back at 28-1 to be first out of the house.

On the overall winner there have only been a couple of minor movers in the market. Faye has been cut from 8-1 to around 6-1 third favourite whilst the 33-1 available for Maisy has now disappeared with 25-1 the best price on her. Jay and Mark remain the bookies favourites at around 4-1.

As we head into the last hour or so before the first eviction the bookies are CERTAIN that Tashie will be booted out tonight! Her odds have closed up to 2-9 favourite with Harry eased out to 4-1 and Aaron at 18-1. That basically says they don't even consider it a contest. Don't ask me how they know, I'm only the messenger! ;)

On the main market, the bookies are cutting prices all over the shop. If you didn't support your fancy at the opening odds then I think you will be disappointed with what is now on offer. Faye is now being challenged on all sides for third favouritism behind Mark and Jay. Louise has been cut to 9-1 from 14-1 earlier in the week, Aaron has been chopped into 6-1 and Alex is also shorter at 9-1 (you can get 12-1 if you shop around).

Those that are on the slide are Rebeckah, Anton, Heaven and Tashie. Rebeckah is now out to 25-1 as the public react to her treatment of the hapless Aden, while Maisy continues to shorten - now 22-1 from 33-1 a few days ago.

Big Brother's bit on the side introduced an internet statistician last night who claims to spend his days pouring over masses of information from tweets and forums (like ours!) to establish trends in public opinion. I believe he could save himself a good few hours by just taking note of the bookies prices! We shall see! :P

Tashie became the first housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother House 2011 - Round 1 to the bookies! Was there ever any doubt? I will keep you updated on progress during week 2 to see what insights the bookies have for the second eviction!

Anyone know what the latest odds are on big brother now that Tashie has been evicted from the house? Who is favourite to win big brother 2011 now?

Jay is still favourite at around 4-1 but only just! Mark is 9-2 and Aaron is the big mover from week 1 having closed up in price to 5-1. He could even be favourite by the end of this week!

The best prices on the others are;
Louise 8-1, Faye 10-1, Alex 10-1, Tom 16-1, Harry 25-1, Maisy 33-1, Arden 40-1, Anton 40-1, Rebeckah 66-1, Heaven 66-1

Who would have guessed Rebeckah being 66-1! She was considered a possible winner a week ago and now everyone can't wait to see the back of her!

Sounds like it is likely to be a fella that wins big brother in 2011 then, what are the bookies odds of it being a boy that wins against a girl winning?

Sure do! The winner to be a man is 8-15, whereas you can get 7-4 against any woman winning Big Brother UK 2011.

For those who believe the bookies are a good guide, Rebeckah Vaughn is now 100-1 to win Big Brother, and so too is Heaven Africa! That translates to a snowball in hells chance for those two...unless of course something changes dramatically!

Monday night's shock nomination announcement that Rebeckah and Heaven are up for eviction from the Big Brother House on Friday has opened up a new betting market. The first odds have been put up by William Hill as 4-9 favourite to be evicted - Rebeckah, 13-8 Heaven. It will be interesting to see if the other bookies follow suit. If Rebeckah is a certainty to be evicted this week you can expect those odds to shorten even more...I will keep you posted!

News on the overall winner, Aaron has been steadily supported and is now the new favourite to win Big Brother 2011! His price has been cut in half since last week, from 8-1 to 4-1 (7-2 clear favourite in places). I think his dinner date with Faye has boosted both their chances - could they emerge as a nice couple or was it just a bit of fun? A big drifter in the betting is Maisy who opened at 33-1, was cut as low as 20-1 last week but is now as high as 40-1! Come on Maisy, get your act together! :P

The smart money has spoken! Rebeckah is now 1-6 favourite to be evicted with the bungee-jumping Heaven out to 7-2 to go on Friday! Obviously there is no such thing as a "certainty" but according to the bookies this is the next best thing! The first quote of 4-9 is now looking quite good, where else can you get a quick 44% profit on your investment?

As predicted, Rebeckah got the boot and that's 2 from 2 for the bookies on their eviction specials. Perhaps I should have placed an accumulator and carried it over round by round? No real change in the betting since Rebeckah went. Aaron and Mark are around 7-2 with Jay out to 6-1 and Faye at 7-1. Heaven is the rank outsider which would make her the obvious candidate for nominations this week but, don't forget there are opportunities to be exempt from nomination so we shall have to wait and see!

STOP PRESS...Bookies ease Aaron in the betting as he threatens to walk!

Aaron is now out to 13-2 with the bookies after threatening to walk from the Big Brother house. This has left Mark as the clear favourite at 3-1. Others shortening in price as a reaction to today's events are Alex (generally 7-1) and Harry (now as low as 9-1)

At the start of week 3 the big market mover is Alex! She has now swept into 2nd favourite behind Mark as support for Aaron, Jay and Faye weakens. The bookies also tell us that Heaven will definitely be leaving on Friday with a price of 1-5 as opposed to 7-2 against the wimpy Aden and 28-1 Aaron! That tells us that Aaron will have to walk out of the house voluntarily because he isn't going to be voted out this week!

STOP PRESS...Surprise late money has forced the price on ADEN being evicted tonight to collapse with all the leading bookmakers! His midweek odds were 7-2 with Heaven rated a near-certainty to be evicted at odds of 1-5. Aden's odds shortened to 11-4 yesterday but there must have been some serious money to see them collapse into 5-4! From looking a one-horse race, this could turn out be close! Aaron is in no danger...he's out to 50-1 to be evicted tonight.

Well, it was close! 0.5% to be precise! I think the bookmakers will be relieved! I wonder if the gamble came unstuck for the want of a few more facebook votes?

Aaron is now back to 3-1 joint-favourite with Mark after last week's excitement. Alex is back out to 9-2 third favourite. There seems little support for Faye, Louise or Maisy and you can get 16-1 or bigger about them. Rank outsiders are Aden who just survived the public vote last week and Anton who has become the least popular housemate in recent days.

The first odds are in for the 4th eviction on Friday night. Ladbrokes have opened up with Maisy as 2-5 to be evicted ahead of Faye at 7-4. Let me remind you that the bookies have so far been right on 3 out of 3 evictions so the omens aren't good for Maisy. However, Heaven was thought to be a certainty to leave last week until a late flurry of money for Aden brought it down to less than 0.5% of the vote separating the pair. My opininon is that Faye should stick closer to Aaron to be safe this week rather than change her mind about him every 5 minutes. She thinks she is unpopular because of Aaron but I think the opposite is true and she should make her mind!

The market has been thrown into chaos by Mark's sudden departure. Alex has been installed the new favourite at 9-4 with Jay at 3-1 and Aaron 7-2. Predictably the bookies have trimmed the odds on all the remaining housemates but who would now feel comfortable about investing in them? Mark was still 3-1 favourite as recently as last night. If you bet on BB you have to consider whether they will be liked by the other housemates, whether they will be liked by the public and then it's anyones guess whether they can last 9 weeks in the BB house!

Maisy might as well go now according to the bookies! Her odds have crashed from 2-5 at the start of the week to 1-8! Faye meanwhile has drifted out from 7-4 to 11-2. I think the housemates will be the only people who don't know the result before tonight's live show? No wonder there are reports of BB having a surprise in store!

The bookies rate Jemma (our new housemate) a 33-1 shot! First impressions were that she won't last long but we shall see. Alex may be boring and bit stupid but that doesn't mean she cannot win Big Brother! Just look up the list of previous winners!
